Christopher Jon Hatfield, 56, passed away in the early morning of Thursday, November 17, 2022. Chris was born in Williamson, West Virginia to James Howard and Ann (Smith) Hatfield on December 16, 1965.


Chris wed Jennifer Edmiston on April 8, 2007, and together, they celebrated 15 years of marriage. Chris was a graduate of the University of Kentucky then obtained his Master’s Degree from Georgetown College and a Rank I from Eastern Kentucky University. He was an educator teaching Social Studies for 27 years at Scott County High School where he loved coaching football.


Chris is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Hatfield; mother, Ann Hatfield of Belfry, KY; siblings, Sherrie Casey (Tim Wallin) of Belfry, KY and Michael (Sarah) Hatfield of Marietta, GA; uncle, Ancie Hatfield of Berea, KY; aunt, Brenda Smith of Belfry, KY; cousins, Dawn Ann Smith of Cincinnati, OH and Justin (Kristin) Hall of Lexington, KY; nieces and nephews, Dani, Leighton, Asher, Lane, Brooks, Charlotte, Reece, Grayson, Matthew “Little Man”, Jordyn, and Devin; brothers-in-law, Randy Casey of Athens, TN, and Lacy Edmiston (Ashley) of Delbarton, WV; mother-in-law, Judy Edmiston; and a host of great, lifelong friends. Chris was preceded in death by his father, James Howard Hatfield; grandparents, Creda Hatfield, Helen Smith, and Burl Smith; aunts and uncles, Sharon Hall, Judy Hatfield, and Charles Hatfield; and father-in-law, George Edmiston.


Visitation for Chris will be Sunday, November 20th at Milward – Man O’War located at 1509 Trent Blvd. in Lexington, KY from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral service for Chris will begin at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 21st at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home located at 25062 US HWY 119 in Belfry, KY with a public visitation to begin one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow the funeral service at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY.
