It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend, Christopher Dan "Scooter" Hernandez, 28, lifelong resident of Las Cruces, on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016. Chris, or Scooter, as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born July 27, 1987. At the time of his death, Christopher was employed at Nellie's Restaurant as a cook and was in the process of becoming a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 4038. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn his passing include his father, Danny Hernandez, and wife, Deeann; his mother, Angie Bigelow and husband, Chris, all of Las Cruces; his paternal grandmother, Manuela "Nellie" Quintana; his maternal grandparents, Esther and Luis Fresquez; four aunts, Josie Burrow, Luisa Diaz, Lisa Gallose and Anna Hidalgo; uncle, Jesus Hidalgo III; a brother, CJ Cisneros; five sisters, Valerie Hernandez, Erica and Crystal Cisneros, Cassie and Savannah Bigelow. Other survivors include two nephews, Jake and Brandon Rucker; a niece, Isabella Rucker, four cousins, Cheyenne and Dakota Burrow and Nicole and Cameron Diaz, as well as other numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Christopher was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Daniel Hernandez.
The funeral Mass will be celebrate at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, in Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite St. The rite of committal and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Ave., where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be family and friends.

Still miss your sweet face, Chris's... you are missed....

It is with heartfelt sadness when I learned of Chris's passing. He was an amazing person, with a big smile and warm welcome when he would see me and always asked if I enjoyed the food. He will be sorely missed. My love and condolences goes out to Danny and family. God Blessings to each of you.

Danny, Dee, Josie, Angie, Chris, Esther, Looper and families, I am so saddened this morning to learn of Christopher's passing. I will always remember him for the smile he had on his face from when he was just a little boy until he grew into a young man. He was always kind, friendly and very personable to me.
