Feerick Funeral Home - Shorewood Obituary

Christopher John Kasik entered eternal life on December 7, 2021, where he was met with open arms by his beloved mother.  He lived an incredible 58 years that were a culmination of love, travel, and service.

Chris was a beloved son to Gerry Kasik, dear partner to Raj Singh, brother to Andrew (Michele) Kasik, and uncle to Megan and Nicholas.  A cousin to Julie, John (Elisabeth), Ian and Micah Bischoff, nephew to Pete (Karen) Bischoff, godson to Joanne Bischoff, and dear friend to many, many more. He made everybody around him feel loved and appreciated, and loved his friends like family.

Milwaukee was always home for him, but he created a life in New York that he loved.  He worked at Pratt Institute of Art and Design for 30 years, a job he took an immense amount of pride and responsibility for.  He was a worldly traveler, a keeper of tradition, and lover of all things Broadway.  Even more than that, Chris was a humble and kind soul whose presence will by missed for many years to come.

A memorial celebration of life will be held at Feerick Funeral Home, 2025 E. Capitol Dr. in Shorewood, on Saturday, December 11th. Family will greet friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and a service honoring Chris' life will take place at 1:00PM. The service will be live streamed. To view the live stream, please click on this link: Remembering Christopher Kasik

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee in honor of Chris would be a way to help his legacy live on.

Not sure what to say?

I knew Chris many years ago when I moved into Stern hall at NYU in the fall of 1989. He was a funny, kind and wonderful person to help steward a fairly rambunctious group of teens into their first real world away from home living experience. I remember him well after all these years. I’m happy to see he made so many amazing friends and accomplished so much.

I met Chris back in 2000 when I reached out for the first time to try to contact a student who was exceedingly late with the return of their borrowed library equipment. We spoke infrequently over the years, but Chris was a total professional when it came to business, and friendly and funny when when it came to personal interactions. He was the kind of person who you remembered because he was kind even when he didn't have to be. I would often run into him on the subway platform waiting for the...

Chris Kasik was a Titan of a man. He absolutely personified living a vibrant life of love, adventure, dedication, kindness, mentorship, resilience the list goes on and on. Chris was an inspiration and his impact on my life is immeasurable. I will be forever thankful for the 15 years I have known Chris and will miss his mentorship, stories, teasing, and laugh. My deepest sympathies and condolences to Raj, Charlie, and his whole family. His presence will forever be felt and missed. Rest in...

Sending my deepest prayers and strength at this time.

I was Chris Kasik's colleague during the last 18 years of my service to Pratt Institute. He was a good man, and a wonderful student affairs professional. He was my friend, and I loved him. Kathleen M. Rice

I remember that we were recently talking about our favorite seasons in a meeting. He went last and was the only person to say he loved them all for different reasons. What he said was so simple yet meaningful. He saw the best in each season and appreciated them all. I've been consistently touched by Chris's integrity and intelligence. He was my interim supervisor and his strengths in listening and understanding others were well-demonstrated. I will never forget his ability to voice concerns...

I am so sad to hear of Chris's passing. He was a dear colleague with a fantastic personality who always had a smile and made you laugh. You will be missed. May he Rest In Peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kasik family.

Chris was one of the first people I met when I moved to Whitefish Bay in December of ‘79. The early ‘80s were filled with fun times— whenever Chris was around, it felt like a party. By the time we graduated from college, our visits “home” were less likely to coincide. I already regretted not going to the 40th HS reunion when I saw the photos he posted, but now my heart truly breaks that I missed that opportunity to see him one more time. Love to you, Andy and your family! And I never met Raj,...

We initially knew Chris through my work in Residential Life at Pratt, but soon after as friends for over 23 years. He was a dear friend, a chosen uncle to our daughter Maggie and an incomparable work partner. It is unthinkable that we won't be able to strategize a thorny problem, or be regaled by and delight in a classic Chris story. We were all lucky to have had him in our lives.
