Stumpff Funeral Home - South Obituary

Christopher Scott Lowe, a beloved coach, teacher and, “big papa”, passed away on August 13, 2024, at the age of 58. Chris was born on February 10, 1966, in Gary, IN, to the late Donald Gene and Doris Nell (Mason) Lowe.

Chris found the love of his life in Chelsey J. Moore, and they were united in marriage on June 30, 2018. Together, they began a new chapter, moving to Kimberling City in 2018 from Sikeston, MO.

Chris was a dedicated Mizzou football fan and loved playing for the team from 1984-1988. Chris has a passion for wrestling that was evident throughout his life. A dedicated teacher and head wrestling coach, he influenced countless lives with his leadership, guidance, and unwavering dedication to the sport. His efforts were rewarded by being named Missouri Coach of the Year (Class 3 district 1) in 2016. His career culminated at Reeds Spring High School, where he retired in 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for generations.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Nell Lowe, and his sister, Julie Heppe.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Chelsey, and six loving children: Sara Collins, Rachael (Chris) Tucker, Caroline (Kyle) Brown, Scott Lowe, Griffin Hancock, and Josh Lowe. Chris was also the proud “Big” Papa of five cherished grandchildren: Bentley, Reid, Brody, Beckham, and Rhett. He also leaves behind one sister Michell (Tim) Anglemeyer and several nephews and a niece.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Chris at the Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Theatre in Branson, Mo on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Reeds Spring Wrestling, a passion that was close to Chris's heart.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Stumpff Funeral Home, Kimberling City, MO.

Not sure what to say?

Happy Birthday Dad, love you and miss you.

Chris was one of my closest friends for the last 5 years. I went from meeting him for the first time thinking, “dear Lord, did we forget to do a background check on this guy?” to him being one of the greatest friends I’ve ever had. He’ll always have a special place in my whole family’s heart. He was always there for me and so many others when they needed him. I admire the way he served so many under the radar. He didn’t serve for recognition or do get anything in return. Chris served because...

Chris and I were football teammates at Mizzou. He was a wonderful teammate. I could always count on Chris for an encouraging word and a laugh. We came to Mizzou with high hopes in Warren Powers’ last recruiting class. There were 20 players in that class in 1984. Only five were left when we were seniors.

We loved our time at Mizzou. But it was a tough era with coaching changes that were brutal to deal with. Yet, Chris stuck it out. He never quit.

Chris was a hard...

Don't let go Lowe! Chris and I were childhood friends. When we came of age to drive, we were up to mischief on the way home from fishing at Lookout Mountain by Oran, Missouri. At that time, the railroad still crossed 61 by Morely, and on the crossing edge sat a railroad sign - a big one with the X that would look great hanging on a bedroom wall.

We came up to the crossing and Lowe taped me on the shoulder and said "STOP". I drove a little flatbed toyota at that time and Lowe took...

Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends that Coach Lowe blessed with his presence.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

My buddies, Scott and Josh. Words cannot express my condolences to you on this great loss. You will always have your farher in your heart and soul. I love you, young men. Keep the Faith. Mari

Chris was an Agent for me (American family) in Rolla for a short period of time'Always enjoyed my visit with him, even trying on his X-Mizzouri Football helmut! A great individual as he affected the lives of many, many people!
