Aberdeen: Christopher Mielke, 13, of Aberdeen, S.D., died of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident Aug. 13, 2010, near Chamberlain, S.D.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City, N.D., with Rev. Dan Forsberg officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Valley City.

A memorial service is pending in Aberdeen.

Christopher was born June 2, 1997, in Oceanside, Calif., while his father was serving with the United States Marine Corps. He lived with his family in many places, including Hawaii, and after his father was discharged, the family moved to Aberdeen, S.D.

Chris was a junior high student and was involved in sports. He also loved hunting and fishing with his dad and grandpa.

Survivors include his father, Chad Allen Mielke (Harmony Mattson); his mother, Jennifer Lynn Ross (Matt Traylor); sisters, Alyssa Lynn Mielke and Keilani Leianne Mielke, Aberdeen, S.D.; brother, Aiden Ross; Chris was eagerly anticipating the birth of his new little sister, Jaelynn Christine Mielke, in January 2011; special siblings: Macee Holcomb, Calebb Traylor, Sierra Traylor, Noel Traylor and Corbin Traylor; grandparents: James and Sandra (Dahl) Mielke, Aberdeen, S.D., Kenneth and Judy Knudson, Wahpeton, N.D., John Dwaine Self, Fort Stockton, Texas; aunts and uncles: Christina Kaput, Camille Smith, Kaila Knudson, Daniele (Ryan) Hennager, Jerry (Michelle) Dahl, Kathy (Ralph) Benson, Mary (Dale) Undem, Ronald (Tracey) Dahl, Jody (Steve) Pfaff, Chuck Mielke Sr., Charlotte (Gary) Beyer, Raymond Mielke, Darlene (Al) Boumont, Myrna Knudson, Jerald (Doris) Knudson, Dale (Danette) Knudson, Bob McCaffrey; many, many cousins and extended family members that will miss him dearly.

Christopher was lovingly carried up to Heaven in the arms of his maternal grandmother, Cheryl Self, where he would be met by his great-grandparents and other family members that were waiting for him.
