Christopher N.K. Mooers

Three decades have passed from when Chris and I worked together to integrate physical oceanography and climate research. His affable, modest ease made all who knew him comfortable ... and, in my case, easily lured into being more educated by his presence. Our paths separated long ago, but I am brought back now, with many wonderful memories, by this sad notice.

Just to say that I miss him as much a year later and for the same reasons

I am saddened by the news and apologize for my lateness in expressing my condolences and fond memories of working with Chris.

He served as my mentor - my MS thesis advisor and PhD committee chairman. Chris was always hyper-busy working in his beloved field of oceanography. As such, I was lucky to get one-on-one time to tap his broad perspectives. I used to complain/tease that my peer PhD candidates who were not mentored by Chris appeared to be "directed". Dr. Mooers was one of my first bosses in my career - I look back fondly at his coaching and breadth of knowledge - also to his get togethers at his Coconut Grove home. A great man all around!
