Cpl. Christopher Jonathan Reid

Obituary

Cpl. Christopher Jonathan Reid, with the 1st Battalion of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, was killed in action.

He died on Aug. 3 in an area where Canadian soldiers have been advancing on Taliban insurgents, said Col. Tom Putt, deputy commander of Task Force Afghanistan.

Reid was the 20th soldier to be killed since Canadians moved into Afghanistan in 2002, and the 12th to die in the last six months.

Reid, based in Edmonton, died during the night when a Canadian Light Armoured Vehicle, or LAV-3, was struck by a roadside bomb.

This Remembrance week 2018, I take this opportunity to Remember all those who have sacrificed so much on our behalf and for our young Nation. Canada I am so very Proud to be Canadian.

100 years have come to pass
Since the war to end all wars
A war in which so many sons
Gave all for those at war
A war that changed a worldwide view
Placed a world stepping forth
To stand together against a foe
Into the future as we go
I have watched the heartbreak
They've...

Lest We Forget.

My poem for Remembrance Day 2017. So proudly I can stand Canadian with the freedom of my voice; in the peace of the most wonderful nation in our world, gifted to me and my fellow Canadians through the efforts and sacrifices of so many.

So many lay across our world
A great wide world divide
Separated by oceans wide
Politics and strife
Our heroes stood
So strong, so proud
To lift
To help
Protect
Those in need a world away
To bring...

In thoughts of all those who have given all that could be given for our freedoms, our beliefs, our futures and in thoughts of their families, loved ones, friends and fellow soldiers. Thank You. We Will Remember

Etched in history's past hundred years
Is freedom's struggle forth
As nations stood allied to stand
To stop tyranny's closing doors
So many sons
Lay in far off lands
Never to return
Except in thoughts and memories shared
By their fellow soldiers,...

Thank You Cpl. Reid. R.I.P. We Will Remember
