Spinelli - Ricciuti Funeral Home - Ansonia Obituary

ANSONIA: Christopher G. Thayer, age 56, entered peaceful rest on Friday, June 2, 2023, in the comfort of his home, his loving family by his side.

Christopher was born in Derby on December 3, 1966, son of the late Arthur H. and Barbara Tyrrell Thayer. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he attended Ripton School for Special Needs in Shelton where he made many friends and attended countless proms. He worked at the former VARCA in Derby. Chris was a huge fan of the New England Patriots and loved watching TV, especially older shows like Full House, The Love Boat, and Highway to Heaven, and was often seen reading his TV Guide. Chris loved bowling and faithfully participated in the Shelton Special Olympics, where he was unofficially known as Social Director. For years, Chris maintained a huge list of his family and friends’ addresses. Those lucky enough to be on that list received homemade birthday cards, always signed with his trademark signature—chris t. Forever filled with joy, he will be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to make others laugh.

Chris leaves behind many who will cherish his memory: sisters, Katherine Pergola (Frank) and Nancy M. Thayer of Ansonia, brothers, Arthur M. Thayer (Karen) of Southbury, Richard T. Thayer (Cheryl), Jeffrey J. Thayer (Marsha), Donald J. Thayer, and Robert F. Thayer, all of Ansonia, loving nieces and nephews, Amie Reilly (Matthew), Jessica Souza (Jay Mangini), Eric Souza (Elizabeth), Theresa Kennen, Arthur Thayer (Lindsey), Jennifer Pannoni (Michael), Bridgette Stevens (Brian), Sarah DeSautelle (Justin), Stacy Thayer, Adam Thayer (Brianna Quinn), Jeffrey Thayer, James Michael Thayer, and Joseph Thayer, great-nieces and nephews, Patience Souza, Sullivan Reilly, Oliver Gallian, Julia Souza, Anthony Wheeler, AJ Thayer, Brian Archer Stevens, Aria, Christopher and Chloe DeSautelle, Tripp and Hadley Nihill, and many cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Art and Barbara, and nephew, Ricky Thayer.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. His funeral procession will then leave for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will immediately follow in the family plot in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Contributions in Chris’s memory may be made directly to the Ansonia Animal Shelter, 1 N. Division Street, Ansonia, CT 06401. Not sure what to say?

Chris was a vey special person. I'll always remember that he thought that I was sleeping in church when I bowed my head after communion. He said "I saw you sleeping". So loving and so friendly. When I was in Ct. last month I saw Bobby in church and he told Chris was not doing well. Now he is with Barbara and Art.

May they all rest in peace together. God's blessings to the whole family.
