Chrystal Jackson and Lewis Greenberg at The Wolf in Ballwin, MO

In knew Chrystal Jackson well and have had several pieces that she did for my family. My favorite moment was catching both she and Artist Lewis Greenberg at an event at my restaurant, the Wolf, in Ballwin. I snapped this photo of the two of them talking. Such great memories of both of them.

I got kissed by Chrystal Jackson after she drew my picture. I met her in a laundry mat on Saturday, when I was visiting in St. Louis. We got in a conversation, and I thought she was an interesting lady. She invited me to an art show in Kirkwood on Sunday where she was drawing for people. She than drew my picture and I tipped her $100.00, she pulled me toward her and gave me a kiss. I told her she was a very interesting person. She also gave me her autobiography. This was a drawing done in with ink by Chrystal, she said "Most use pencil so they can erase their mistakes".

In 1974, I was in second grade when Ms. Jackson, a friend of my teacher, came to our classroom. She has written the book, Christmas in Ladybug Village. She drew a scene on the dedication page to me of ladybugs sledding. I loved the visit and the book and artwork and kept it all these years. I decided to try to look her up to send her a photo of her long-ago drawing but see that sadly she past not too long ago. May she Rest In Peace.

I became acquainted with Chrystal through a very synchronistic set of circumstances. Long a fan of her artwork, I befriended her son, not aware the two were related. Both Chris and Chrystal became fast friends and were a "must invite" to the many parties we hosted in our apartment at the Chase. Chrystal was a great spirit. She had an understanding of her place in this universe that was inspiring. I miss her tremendously and am grateful that her art work is pleasant reminder of our...
