Dr. Chuan-Pu Lee

I had the privilege of working for CP for 10 years - set up her lab on the 3rd floor of the Lande building at Wayne State's Med School, and then as a Research Assistant. She made beefheart stew while we isolated mitochondria for SMP (sub-mitochondrial particles) for her work on mitochondrial metabolism. She was tough, and, fair, and worked tirelessly. I have had the privilege of knowing Dr. Lee as a neighbor and friend. Dr. Lee was admired by all of her neighbors Iin Lafayette Park, Detroit. Her intelligence was immense and amazing! Coupled with her humor Dr. lee is never to be forgotten. CP as she liked to be called, was a truly gifted and, yet, humble individual. C.-P. Lee will be enormously missed by the educational and research community at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. She was still teaching students up until a few months ago, even after her "retirement", in Emeritus Status!
