Hello, friends and family of Chuck DAVIS -
What a personal shock to learn this morning of the passing of Dr. Chuck DAVIS, a man whom I have admired for too many years to count. Dr. DAVIS was a man of peace and a force for goodness, brotherhood, and understanding in the world. And he loved and cherished his role, just as those of us who met him at least once or twice in person loved and cherished him. "Ago Ame" Rest in peace Baba Chuck, I never thought when you said goodbye to me and Umkhathi in Washington DC in 2013 you meant that you will never meet us again. The sun has set, the giant has rested. We shall forever cherish your teachings, "I am because you are". Peace and blessings. Ukuthula lezibusiso.

The void has moved now to motivation and inspiration to keep our traditional culture intact and to preserve the passion of our very own icon, Chuck Davis. I will never forget the one on one conversations after performances especially in Atlanta...

A gentle giant who acted like a king.
It was always a thrill to see him in Durham, be it Whole Foods Restaurant or the American Dance Festival.
I hope a statue of him will be built in Durham. He was our ambassador of good will.
