Sanders Funeral Home - Smithfield Obituary

Message from Chancellor: Passing of Beloved Eagle Ciara Gee By Chancellor Johnson O. Akinleye Posted July 19, 2021, 4:37 PM Dear NCCU Community: I am saddened to inform you of the passing of beloved Eagle Ciara Gee, 20, a junior kinesiology major. Ciara passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, in a tragic car accident. A native of Raleigh N.C., Ciara was known to be a positive influence on campus who kept her peers and friends uplifted with laughter and encouragement to pursue their academic goals. Studying toward a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in sports medicine, Ciara was dedicated to staying on track to one day reach her ultimate goal of becoming a physical therapist. I ask that we collectively keep Ciara and her loved ones - especially her mom Sharon Leonard; father Jerry Gee IV, who remains in the hospital; stepfather Michael Leonard; brother Jerry Gee V; and close family friend - in our thoughts and prayers. The Counseling Center is available for students who would like to speak with a counselor and can be reached at 919-530-6106; please ask to be connected to the counselor on duty. The Office of Spiritual Development and Dialogue also has staff available for consultation at 919-602-6967. More information regarding funeral arrangements and NCCU's campus vigil will be shared when available. In Truth and Service, Johnson O. Akinleye, Ph.D. Chancellor Visitation: Friday, August 06 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sanders Funeral Home Chapel 806 E Market St Smithfield, NC 27577 (919) 934-8416 Funeral Service: Saturday, August 07 2:30 PM Raleigh North Christian Center 6201 Louisburg Road Raleigh , NC

Sorry for your loss

My heart goes out to all. She was a precious sole. Never to be forgotten. My Sincere Condolences

Sharon, You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find peace and comfort in God.

I am so very sorry to hear about Ciara passing. I worked with Ciara at Harris Teeter a couples years ago. She had such a beautiful soul. When Candice from Harris Teeter told me the awful news I cried. She was such a cutie pie. I pray that her dad heals and that her moms heart will heal some day. I will pray for your family. Love and Peace, Michelene "Mich" Yarosz

My prayers are with you all .
My condolences

Dear Family, on behalf of the Raleigh North Christian Center Compassionate Care ministry, we are so sorry for your loss. May you be strengthened as the days go by and hold your memories of Ciara close.

Ciara was such a sweet young lady. I worked with her at Harris Teeter in Durham. She will truly be missed. May her family find peace in this time of sorrow.

My deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one.
