Not sure what to say?

I received an email reminding me of the anniversary and asking if I wanted to sign the guestbook... it was a nice opportunity to remember Mrs. Blauvelt again! She made a positive impact on me as a high student and it´s very nice to take a moment to remember her.

My condolences to the Blauvelt family. I've long ago moved away from NJ but always wondered what Claire was up to. "Mrs. Blauvelt" was one of the finest teachers I've had, with a quick, sometimes ascerbic, but always intelligent wit. She challenged students but also kept it fun. I will miss her, but I'm enjoying thinking back to her classes.

To Claire's family,
My sincere sympathy goes to all of you. My Mother, Elizabeth Bill, lived at 72 High st., and knew Claire well. I visited her when I came to Glen Ridge and we shared an interest in French and in teaching. I always enjoyed talking with her and we kept in touch. She was a wonderful person. Once, when I was in Paris, she took me to a local restaurant and we had a nice visit. I didn't know that she had passed away til a short time ago. Eleanor Bill Calvin, Raynham, MA

Madame Blauvelt made learning fun and interesting. Her sense of humor got a lot of us through High School and she put up with our earnest yet hard on the ears attempt to master her beloved French language. How precious your memories of times with her must be.

God Speed Aunt Kit! Kit spent a good deal of her life, raising two wonderful young men (Jeff and Chris), who also just happened to be my cousins. I'll never forget the wonderful times we had at Kit's parents farm, as well as the summer afternoons we'd spend, developing our atrwork skills (or lack thereof) at the kitchen table on High Street.
Aunt Kit was a wonderfully gifted intellectual, who never spoke down to those of us who knew how intellegent she really was. I know she will be...

Claire was an inspiration to me as a "new" teacher 38 years ago. I was happy to read that she was able to travel extensively during her retirement. May she rest in peace.

My condolences to the Blauvelt family. Madame was quick with a phrase and master of the double entendre. This was a challenge for some high school students but stimulating for those of us who would listen and learn. She will be missed.
Sincerely,

We in the neighborhood called her Kit. She was a highly refined person who preferred "toe-mah-toe" to tomato. On warm days when we would be tending our respective gardens, a little chat with Kit was always a welcom break because her background and language skills made for wonderful, artful conversation and her ability to speak was matched only by her ability to listen. May this smart, classy lady rest in peace.
