Thanks to the two ladies who left stories about my mother's teaching. She loved her students and enjoyed their individuality. I'm grateful that they left us their thoughts.

Mrs. Hekman was my English teacher at Burton Jr. High. I learned more from her than any other teacher I had. Her teaching helped me with all my college studies. She was a wonderful role model. I can only wish that there were more teachers like her today.

There is a saying "People don't remember you for what you give them, or what you say. But they will remember how you made them feel" Fiftythree yrs ago, Mrs Hekman was my teacher. I was 13. That summer my father died. Mrs Hekman came to the funeral home to visit. The entire time she was talking to my mother, she patted my leg. I don't even know if we spoke, what I do remember is the way she made me feel. You are blessed to have all of her memories. Sincerely, Bonnie Salhaney...
