On Tuesday, May 2, 2023 Claire Mailhott, passed away at Baystate Medical Center after a short illness at the age of 96. Claire was the proud mother of 6 children and devoted wife to Leo P Mailhott who passed away in 2008.
She lived her whole life wanting nothing but a roof over her head, food on the table and her family happy and by her side. That was who she was. If she was cooking and someone stopped by you were staying for dinner. To say the holidays were epic in her house would be an understatement. She simply loved all the preparation and festivities and everyone was welcomed.
Claire was born in Quebec, Canada on December 17, 1926. The daughter of the late Romeo and Adela (Moisan) Monast. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her son Leo Jr. and daughters Debbie and Joann Mailhott, 3 brothers; Guy, Yvon and Serge Monast and her beloved stepmother, Juliette. Additionally, she leaves behind her daughter, Linda Swenson and husband, Roy; two sons, Paul Mailhott and his wife Christine and Bruce Mailhott and his wife Linda, all of Chicopee and her nephew Joe and his wife Barbara Mailhott who made her life a bit brighter with their visits every Wednesday. Additionally, she was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great, great grandson. She has also left behind her brother Paul and his wife Suzanne, sister Pierrette, her husband Gaitan and her sister Therese, all who live in Quebec and also many nieces, nephews and friends who she loved as well.
A funeral service will be held at the O’Brien Family Funeral Home on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 11:30 am. Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral service from 10 to 11:30 am. Burial to follow at Precious Blood Cemetery in South Hadley. For more information or to make online condolences please visit obrienfamilyfh.com.

We are so sorry to hear of Claire’s passing. We fondly remember Christmas Eves at her home and all of the family celebrations Rob and I were invited to. She was a wonderful woman.

I love Mrs. Mailhott as if she were my own mother. The sweetest lady I have had the honor to know. She will forever be in our hearts.

My condolences to the Mailhott Family. I and my family lived across the street from the Grandparents on East St in South Hadley. My dad had a farm at 451 East Street and our families knew and shared times with each other for years. I now live in California but watch to obits for the friends who go on to glory. May Claire and the entire Mailhott family share God's glory. Amen
