Of Goodrich, age 96, was welcomed to her Heavenly home on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Cranberry Park Assisted Living, Transition building. Funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5005 McCandlish Road in Grand Blanc, Reverend Samuel Hacker officiating. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in Lansing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association of Southfield (which helped family through Don's dementia). Visitation 12-4 pm Sunday, 11-3 and 4-8 pm Monday at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Mrs. Buyack will be at the church from 10 am Tuesday until the time of the service. Clara was born in Flint, MI on Leap Year Day (February 29), 1928, the daughter of the late Harold Clark and Bertha Amelia (Jahnke) Jones. She graduated from old Northern HS in 1946, trained and worked as X-Ray technician at Hurley Hospital for over 10 years. On May 27, 1961, she married Donald Buyack at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Flint where she was a longtime member before transferring to Gloria Dei as a charter member. Most recently she attended Emanuel. With marriage, Clara moved from city to farm life in Goodrich. She worked at all three Goodrich School libraries as an aide for many years. She enjoyed making cards and other crafts, playing cards, computer games, Mexican Train dominoes, murder mysteries, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, raising houseplants and flowers. She was always ready to try something new. Her real joy was being with family and friends and her animals. Shared with Donald are children, Bridget (Duane) Hastedt of Clio and Mark (Cristina) Buyack of Millington; granddaughters, Samantha and Lauryn Buyack; several nieces and nephews. Shared through Donald are daughters, Darlene [deceased] (Rodney) Pierson, Diane (Ross) Mann, both of Goodrich and Dawn (Glenn) Shaw of Florida, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law Marcia Dunn of IL. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald; sisters, Dorothy Fetzer and Merrowee Mills; brothers-in-law, John Fetzer and Richard Mills; step-daughter, Darlene Pierson. The family wishes to thank everyone at Cranberry Park Transition and Swan Hospice for all the care shown her during her last 3 weeks on earth.
