Clara ?Clarita? García,
Our Lord and Savior called our beloved, Clara ?Clarita? Garcia, surrounded by her loving family, home to heaven on Friday, August 1, 2014. Clara was born in Wagon Mound, NM November 9, 1940. She graduated from Wagon Mound High School and NM Highlands University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education Degree. She completed 32 years of successful teaching in the Albuquerque Public Schools having taught at Kit Carson, Sombra del Norte, and Navajo Elementary Schools. After her retirement from APS, she devoted her life to her husband, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was a talented, creative, and generous beauty. Clara was much loved and admired and will be greatly missed by family, friends, and countless former students. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael G. Garcia; her mother, Eloisa Montoya; and her father-in-law, Tom Garcia. Clara is survived by husband, Dan Garcia; daughter, Christine "Sugie" Garcia and husband Lanny; daughter-in-law, Karen Garcia; grandchildren, Janelle Coca and husband Julian, Matthew Garcia, and Zack Garcia; great-grandchildren, Elicea and Michael Coca, Father Zack Montoya; mother-in-law, Lola Garcia; sisters, Mary Ellen Gallegos, Nora Juarros and husband Louis, brother, Carlos Montoya and wife Patti; and many nieces and nephews. A Viewing will take place on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque Chapel, followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Celebration of the Mass will take place on Friday, August 8, at 9:00 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. This is sent with my deepest sympathies. Losing our moms has to be the hardest life experience that just break the heart a little. You all are in my prayers and know that she is with the Lord and he is happy to have such a blessed women back with him.
I remember her ALWAYS smiling.

My heart cries today to learn of Mrs. Garcia's passing. I am one of her former students that will miss her dearly. I was in Mrs. Garcia's 1st grade class at Sombra and grew up just a few blocks from the Garcia family home. She has always been that one special teacher for me that I will remember for the rest of my life. She taught me, my sister, and my brother and my mom was always a room mother.
