Thank you all for these very nice comments and remembrances of Clara. Please continue to share your memories and stories here. There was such a great attendance at her internment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery - especially the motorcycle escort. You are all so special to her and to me. Thank you to the folks that were able to attend her remembrance/celebration of life gathering at Glenwood Oaks Restaurant. Some wonderful stories about Clara were exchanged. You ARE all very special...

Clara joined our bridge club when she was in her 90s and along with playing good bridge, she brought so much joy, humor and happiness. We celebrated her 96, 97, 98, and 99th b'day with her and then when she moved to the Vet's Home we tried to visit her as often as we could....sometimes playing bridge. Our last visit was to celebrate her 102 1/2 birthday which we did in May 2015. She LOVED it.
Clara.....it was an honor to know you!

Our father lived at the VA Home in Manteno until April. We got to know Clara over the last year and half and always enjoyed her company! She was an amazing person. We included her in the video shown at dad's wake. Thanks for a lift in our spirits when we would visit at Manteno Clara! Rest in Peace. Kelly & Peter Hohman, Robin and Kerri.

Clara was one special lady to me. I did her hair at the veterans home every Wednesday and she was always waiting for me at the door at 6:00 a.m. To be one of the first to get her hair done and have a donut. always told me how well Richard was doing and he never thought his mother would live this long and then She would always laugh. I sure did miss seeing her last Wednesday and her tight hug, kiss, thank you and I love you Shandra. she was one SPECIAL lady. Thinking and praying for you all.

Over the years Clara joined our extended family for Thanksgiving. She was a joy to be around, delightful to talk with and leaves us with happy memories.
