Clara Agnes Kapala, 92, formerly of Caseville, died Monday, June 4, 2018, at her son's home in Mulliken, Michigan, while under hospice care. Clara was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Tawas, to the late George and Lilly (Conway) Whitney. She married Bernard Kapala on June 28, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tawas. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2009. Clara worked for U.S. Graphite in Saginaw for 12 years and 29 years for the Saginaw News. She retired to Caseville Feb. 26, 1994. She enjoyed gardening, Euchre and spending time with family. She was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church/OLPH. She is survived by her children Sharon (David) Geiersbachs of Indiana, Timothy (Maryln) of Mount Morris and Gary (Karen) of Mulliken; grandchildren Amy, Tanya, Michael, Angela, Jennifer, Steven and Matthew; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son David; and siblings Mary Wellman, John, Francis, Joseph, Raymond and Edmund Whitney. A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7 at St. Roch Catholic Church/OLPH with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw.
