I remember Mr. Driver very well from coming into the library -- he often times spoke proudly of his work at NASA...and he brightened up our mornings telling us about it!

Funeral for Clarence J. Driver, 82, of Decatur will be today, Jan. 10, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ken Bush officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Driver, who died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at his residence, was born March 5, 1926, in Allen County, Ky., to Clarence E. and Pernie Slayton Driver. He retired from NASA and was a member of the U.S. Space Team through Apollo 17. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the 16th Signal Operation Battalion in the Philippines and Japan. His sister, Mildred Driver, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Estelle Claiborne Driver; three daughters, Diana Valdez, Phyliss Stout and Myra Blunt; brother, James Driver; sister, Joyce Lankford; five grandchildren, Timothy Gowan, Jonathan Stout, Matthew Stout, LaDonna Blunt and Kimberly Blunt; and four great-grandchildren, Savannah Estelle Gowan, Shawn Stout, Tanner Stout and Alexis Blunt.
Pallbearers will be Tim Gowan, Jon Stout, Matt Stout and Jamie Cookston.
