Not sure what to say?

Our condolences to Jeff and Rich and their families for the death of Clarence. The Big C was a good and honest man. He made the world a better place through his youth coaching, professional work at AAFES, support of community activities, and his love of family and friends. He was truly a man for all seasons. We shall miss him.

Big C was a teacher of life to me and many youth growing up in North Texas. He will be missed as he truly lived, loved, and laughed.

Big C was my next door neighbor when I moved to San Antonio. We used to hang out, drink beer and wine, and barbecue. He let me stay with him when I needed it. He was always there if you needed help. He was a true friend. I am happy to have had him in my life.

Clarence was a great Kennedy School classmate. He would pop into the lives of we friends in Portland from time to time and was always welcome. Kurt Engelstad

Richard and Jeff,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Your Dad sounds like a truly remarkable man that loved life to it's fullest and never missed an opportunity to seize a moment and make it his own.

I have so many amazing memories with my Great Uncle JR. I was lucky enough to be one of his many young tourists while he was in Munich in 1985. He made the whole trip! JR was one of the most cherished relationships of my Grandmother Marion Ove, and I am sure they are enjoying catching up together now!

You will be truly missed!
Love,
Michelle Gridley Vollrath

Big "C" was a good buddy and friend since our grade school days at Kennedy and High School days at Ole Jefferson. We played a lot of sports together back then. I will particularly miss him come summer when we usually played golf up here in Oregon. He leaves an empty place in the lives of all who knew him.

I remember the first time I met Clarence. He rolled his window down and said, "Hi, I'm Clarence, but you can call me 'Big C!'"

He was always so kind and full of life whenever I was able to visit with him outside of our homes.

I remember how excited he was to travel to Germany to attend the World Cup festivities in 2006. His anticipation and stories upon returning made me appreciate life and other cultures.

Surely, he was a man who lived life to the fullest! ...

I miss you and love you, Grandpa C!
Love, Brendan
