On behalf of the USS Block Island Assn., our sincere sympathy on the passing of "Bob" who was a member of the USS Block Island Assn. Bob's ship, USS Ahrens, came to the rescue of the first USS Block Island ship, CVE 21, on the night of May 29, 1944, after it was sunk by a German U-Boat in the Atlantic Ocean (picking up survivors).

So sorry to hear about Uncle Bob. Even though I never met after marrying his nephew Bob we always tried to remain close by sharing pictures of our sons as they grew over the years. We hoped to enlighten his heart and knowing us even with all the miles between us. I hope Uncle Bob knows that he was in our hearts always. I still have hopes of meeting you one day in heaven.
