Clarence MYERS Obituary

MYERS, Clarence Richard "Dick" Age 75, of West Carrollton, OH passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018, with his daughters by his side, after a valiant battle with many health obstacles. Dick is preceded in death by the love of his life, Carol (Poffenberger) Myers in 2005 and his parents Richard and Mamie (Pritchard) Myers. He is survived by his loving daughters Debbie (Doug) Stebbins and Susan (Brian) Adams; adoring grandchildren, Claire and Adam Stebbins, Caroline, Lily and Grace Adams, sisters Linda Myers and Marie (Bill) Wilson, brother-in-law, Dan (Karen) Poffenberger, sister-in-law, Ruthann (Terry) Thompson, nieces, nephews and many friends he considered family including his youngest friends, friends of grandson Adam Stebbins, who brought him much happiness. In his youth, Dick enjoyed playing sports and working with animals at Doc Brandon's shop. He was a graduate of Miamisburg High School, Class of 1960. He was a member of the United States Airforce from 1960 - 1964, where he was stationed in Sumter, South Carolina, where he kept meticulous flight logs for the pilots. Upon discharge, he worked briefly at NCR, before working at Fridgidaire in the paint department and then on to General Motors - Harrison Radiator, where he retired in 1997. Dick loved his cat, Brownie, using his deck and fire pit, researching on his computer, tinkering in the stock market, eating out, attending sporting events, camping and traveling. His favorite trip was when he and Carol traveled all over the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and then down the east coast. Even though he wasn't fond of the beach, he always made sure his family, who did love it, got there each year. Dick's greatest pleasure of all was his family and rarely did he miss an opportunity to support his grandkids; whether it be a school concert, assembly, or sporting event. A constant face in the stands cheering for his beloved Vikings, even during the last months of his life despite the challenges it took to be presenta local celebrity of sorts, "Paman" was greeted by warm hugs and well wishes from those that loved him dearly. Thank you to all of the friends and family who helped get him to the YMCA, appointments, took him out to eat and made sure he got to do the things he loved. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00PM, Friday, March 2, 2018 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 3, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery following services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miamisburg High Campus Quest (c/o Miamisburg City Schools), 540 E. Park Ave. Miamisburg, OH.
