Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

STRAUS, Clarence Bernard - Of Swartz Creek, age 84, passed into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2022.


Funeral service will be held 1pm Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,


Father Louis Ekka officiating.


Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday and 12Noon Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. A Scripture Service will be held 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.


Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.


Those desiring, may make contributions to St. Mary's Queen of Angels.


Clarence was born in Wayland, Michigan on October 12, 1937, the son of Clarence A. and Mildred (Kuhtic) Straus. He graduated from Martin Rural Schools and Ferris Institute. In 1962, he married Marie Platte and they raised 3 wonderful children. Clarence owned and restored several vintage cars and tractors, which he shared with others at many community shows and parades. He was also the go-to person, when photos were needed. He took pictures at over 400 weddings over the years. He also photographed many sports teams at Swartz Creek High School. Mr. Straus taught Math and Science to high school students for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Queen of Angels Church.


Surviving are wife, Marie;


3 wonderful children, Ralph Straus, Janet (Paul) Ritenburgh and David (Cindy) Straus;


Grandchildren, Spencer, Kyle and Travis Ritenburgh, and Daniel Straus.

Sorry for your loss. Clarence was a quiet, polite and nice person. I enjoyed sharing time at our annual school retiree lunches. He will be missed.
