I met Clarice in about 1977. She was the director of ICU/CCU at what was then Springfield Hospital, now Baystate Medical Center. I was just starting my career as a dietitian. She was a mentor at a time when I needed guidance in my professional development, but she was always a friend and I loved her very much. She adored animals and in 1983 a lovely cat appeared at her door that she couldn't keep since she already had 2, and so she offered him to me. He was a delightful family addition...

Clarice will be greatly missed although she only touched my life for a brief time I grew to love her dearly. She was a "stubborn old Nurse". Which I say fondly because that is what made me love her most. I enjoyed every minute I cared for her
