Not sure what to say?

Sandy and Marcia - I have many memories of times spent when we all lived in Portland - your grandparents, your parents and you girls! Sandy - John and I came to stay with Marcia and Suzy the night you were born! And after that we, with no children of our own, helped out with babysitting when needed. Your mother was a warm and generous person, and I will always remember our last visit and lunch with her! Love,
Aunt Mary

I was saddened by the news of the passing of Chris. Chris was such a kind soul, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. First and foremost, I have always admired and respected Chris for the unconditional love that she had for her daughters and her parents. Chris was in her element being the captain of the kitchen table, and she would never pass up an opportunity to sit and chat with family or friends. The newspaper, a cup of coffee, a cigarette, and someone to talk to and it...

Chris was a wonderful lady and a great neighbor and friend to me. Her generous laugh and sense of humor, was matched by her generous heart. I would sometimes "pop in", 2 or 3 times a day, as her presence and hospitality was always warm and comforting and welcoming. We had many good times together, She was one of the brightest people I ever knew, and we had many humorous, interesting and intellectual conversations on many subjects. Her kindness and wise counsel helped me a great deal...

Sandy and Marcia....how many wonderful memeories do I have around the famous table....making Chris coffee, doing GIRL GOSSIP with DONNA and making cookie dough and just eating it out of the bowl. I dont remember how many times I spent the night at the house but your MOM was always a delight....full of fun and great laughter. I remember several times Sandy and I should have been in trouble only to have her start out STERN and turn SOFT! What a wonderful woman. Her dedication to Suzie was...

Chris and I had 2 incredible grandchildren in common - Zoe and Zack Schlanger. She was truly a bright, delightful and stunning woman!

Chris will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to call her Mom, Grandma or friend.

When I first met Chris in 1964, I thought I would never measure up as a daughter-in-law ~ ~ she set such a high standard in the Manning family. And I never got over that feeling. To this day I still regard her as my model sister-in-law, a person whose beauty, charm, wit, and brilliance I will always admire.

Chris was such a huge presence in my life and the lives of those around her -- I have always wished I could recreate the warm, relaxed atmosphere that all her family and guests found around her round dining table and I am STILL trying (unsuccessfully, as I have been for 30 years) to match the flavor and tenderness of her pork chops and gravy. Her devotion to her friends and family was off the charts -- I remain inspired by her example of love and caring when I think of all she did for her...

Thinking of you all. What a blessing to have her in your life for so long. Sincerely

It was a great pleasure being acquanted with Chris. My thoughts are with all of you.
