Athens High School classmates of Claus have been trying to locate him for decades. We were so saddened as we searched for classmates in preparation for our 50th class reunion next year and found this obituary. Claus was not a student in our district for very long, but he immediately fit right in and was loved by all. We are so sad that he is no longer living on this Earth, but also happy that he had such a good and fulfilling life. Our condolences to the family. Athens High School Class...

I was very sad to hear this about Brother Hauer. He was my bishop when I was a teenager when he was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
I have very fond memories of him and his family and would like to express my condolences to his family.

I can only say that this man is amazing, with every thread of his being, he will be blessed. I remember sitting in the hallway of the church waiting for the bishop, and he came up to me and introduced himself and we started talking about his career….I had so many conversations with him about Alaska, and his flying, and if I could share my stories with you on this board, it would be a novel. The lord needed another man of his stature and by goodness, he got it! He is always so bright and...

I was in Claus's ward years ago and he was the Sunday School teacher. He was entertaining, spiritual and just great to be around. One thing he always did when ending a lesson was to ask: So what? That has always left an impression on me and I've gained SO much more perspective in my learning, and have since tried to incorporate that into my lessons. Rest in peace Claus. Thoughts and prayers to your family, neighbors and loved ones. You will be dearly missed.

We originally met Brother Hauer while he was on his mission in El Paso. He and his wife were the most amazing people and so supportive of our family during a tough deployment. They are true Angels. I pray his family will find peace in knowing that he is well loved and will not be forgotten.

My first memopry of Claus was at a youth water skiing activity at Perry Lake, KS. He helped several young people get up for their first time. He bought an older boat that gave him a little trouble, and he borrowed our boat to take a foreign officer to the lake. Claus was pulled up on two skis and dropped one. The fellow took the boat off across the lake and when they got back to look for the ski they couldn't find it. Claus felt very badly and wanted to buy me a new set of skis. We...

It's still so hard for me to think that Claus is gone, he had an indomitable spirit and seemed so invincible to me...we worked together in church while he was the bishop and he made all of our callings fun and enjoyable just because of who he was. I will miss him and I send my heartfelt condolences and love to his wonderful family and especially to Donna, his ever faithful companion. I wish I could be there to give you a HUG...may our Heavenly Father give you Peace & Comfort during this very...
