Dear Ms. Brittain and Family:
I just read the news today and wanted to express my condolences. I remember you and Mr. Brittain fondly from frequent visits to the Chesterfield Inn during my 20's and 30's. It was such a special place for me. You and your staff made me feel protected, welcome, and safe. Its with a sad heart I just read of Clay's death. I have been away from Myrtle Beach a good many years now but I always remember his friendly smile at the Sea Captains and the Dunes club. Just know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

What wonderful memories our family has of the Chesterfield Inn and Mr. Clay Brittain in the 1980s and early 90s. We remember the Brittain family's dedication and work ethic. We had to book reservations months ahead of time because it always filled up. Many of the same people returned year after year. Most of the same staff worked at the Inn and dining room the twelve summer vacations that we stayed there. That says Mr. Brittain treated them well and with respect. Always friendly,...
