Cleborn (Clay) Rast, 67, of Tishomingo, Mississippi, died August 16, 2007, at his residence as the result of a heart attack. He was a retired truck driver by profession. After surviving a near fatal truck accident four years ago, he made a remarkable recovery due to the help he received from loving and loyal friends and family members. With many thanks to Dr. John Prather, his medical staff, and the understanding people of Iuka, he was returning to a normal life. Throughout his life of 67 years he gave us many happy memories and we will miss him dearly. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 2, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen, MS. Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., until service time on Sunday at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Cutshall Funeral Home of Glen, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Arlene Janicki Rast of Overland Park, KS; 3 sons, Kenneth K. Rast and Gregory B. Rast, both of Overland Park, KS, and Thomas G. Premo and wife, Jaimie, of Downers Grove, IL; 2 brothers, Shelby F. Rast of Tishomingo, MS, and Kermit W. Rast of Denver, CO; 2 sisters, Edwina L. Kramer of Boise, ID, and Phillis D. Taghlabi of Houston, TX; 3 grandchildren, Julie, Jim, and Bill Premo, all of Downers Grove, IL; his aunts and uncles, Emma and Clifford J. Rast, and Janet and Tulon W. Rast, all of Iuka, MS; 3 nieces, Alicia Kramer, Shelby Rast, and Caitlyn Rast; and 4 nephews, Matthew Kramer, Jordan Kramer, Bryson Rast, and Clayton Rast. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amy Ruth and Lee Roy Rast; his grandparents, Mary Lou and Walter Lee Rast, and Rosa Lee and George Davis Stanford; and 2 brothers, Villard T. Rast and Larry J. Rast. Clay always had a smile and a quick, funny comment no matter the situation. He was a good man,and a good and gentle soul. His words of solace to me at a difficult time in my life were a great comfort and I will remember them always. He was a wonderful brother and he died too soon.
