Cleophis Bray ("Brady") age 75, passed away February 5, 2014. He was a resident of Gary, Indiana for 50 years, formerly of Brent, Alabama.

He attended Alabama High School, retired from U.S. Steel and Jarrett Detective Agency. He was a member of New Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and a member of the Masons.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Louise Bray; brothers, Joenathan Bray, Cleveland Bray, Raythanal Bray and Dean Bray; sisters, Matilda Ramsey and Mamie L. Coleman.


He is survived by nine children; Katrise Bray of Denver, Colorado; Al E. (Diann) Anderson of Hammond, Indiana; Mary (Derek) Williams of Marion Alabama; Cleophis Bray Jr. of Gary, Indiana; Keith Bray of Gary, Indiana; Antoine Bray of Denver, Colorado; Bobby Johnson, II of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kowan Johnson Sr. of Gary, Indiana and Nishee Johnson of Lafayette, Indiana.

He also leaves 36 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two aunts, two uncles and a host of relatives and friends.


Visitation, February 14, 2014 at Smith, Bizzell and Warner Funeral Home, 4209 Grant Street, Gary, Indiana from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. (family hour 6-7 p.m.)


Funeral service February 15, 2014 at Clark Road Baptist Church, 2141 Clark Road, Gary, Indiana beginning at 11 a.m., Reverend Edward C. Turner, officiating. Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart. ~
