Cletus was a dear friend and will be greatly missed in the guitar community. We enjoyed his playing at the Fresno Guitar Society meetings and the Panorama Concerts. Our condolences to Lois and the family.

My parents took me to his store at the corner of Cedar and Shields in 1965. I must have been about 12 at the time. Got my first guitar, a Fender Mustang, and first amp, Fender VibroChamp. Took my first guitar lesson from him as well. I could tell that he was a good man, soft spoken and kind. Looks like he lived a good and long life, and was loved by many. We should all be so blessed. See you in Heaven Mr. Clark. And to all of his family and friends I give my condolences. Rod Castello

Uncle Cletus will be dearly missed... I loved to get those phone calls that would begin with "Hey girl...this is your Uncle Cletus. Do you have a minute?" Our conversations were never a minute. I loved hearing his stories about everyone that had passed before him. Now I am sure he is in Heaven, telling everyone there, stories about all of us down here.
RIP Uncle Cletus

Cletus Clark, a beautiful legend.

"I met Cletus in 2003 when I was forming the Central Valley Songwriters Association and hosting house concerts. Cletus had some amazing stories to tell. He truly was a beautiful legend. His passion for music and life will always be an inspiration to me. My sentiments go out to all his loved ones.... Funny thing, I happen to think of Cletus a few times this last two weeks although it's been years since I have seen him. Yes, funny how we have strings that connected us all in perfect harmony....

The Clarks were our neighbors on Ashcroft Avenue for nine years. I loved to drive by their house, and see Mr. Clark playing guitar in the garage. We had several nice conversations with him about the guitar, the military, and some of his experiences. My son still has a guitar pick that Mr. Clark gave him--he carried them in his pocket. They were lovely neighbors, and truly of the "Greatest Generation." Our blessings to Mrs. Clark and the entire Clark family--we hope you take comfort in...

I was sadden upon the news of Cletus' passing. I have known and loved him since 1958. His rabid passion of the guitar is matched by very few in my memory. He definately was an ambassador of the guitar. The list of his students over the years would fill a book. He especially loved pairing with his wife Lois while she would sing in many church settings around California. He was so very proud of his family also. If any of them wanted to pursue music in their lives, he was there for...
