Not sure what to say?

I worked with Cliff either side of 1970. He became a great friend, and we were sorry to see him leave for the US in 1972. Here is photo of Cliff in 1969 in the Old Crown, Weybridge, serving beer while chain smoking. He visited us 40 years later, and hardly seemed to have changed. Now we are sorry to see him go.

I worked with Cliff in the early '60s. We visited the Isle of Man in 1962 and 1963 to see the TT Races. My most exciting motorbike ride was on the back of Cliff's Honda 250 as we overtook everyone going down the mountain after one of the races. Cliff started the Berks, Oxon, Bucks Motorcycle Racing Club. He organised races at Brands Hatch and other circuits. I sold him my Arial Arrow, which he had souped up, when I bought a Mini. I lost touch with Cliff when he left Culham Lab.

Cliff's surprise outfit at his Tek retirement party!

Cliff at an annual OMRRA party he hosted.

1989 was my first serious year of racing at OMRRA and Cliff was my strongest competitor in Formula 3. Other long time racers in the class gave me the impression that Cliff liked to gloat about his dominance and I did see a little of that as we battled head to head, but I managed to win my first class championship against Cliff and afterwards he was the first to congratulate me. In the years to come I came to know him personally and realized his wit and his humor.
You will always be missed...

I worked with Cliff many years ago in the accessory group at Tek. Like many of the others here, I just liked to listen to him reason his way through a problem. I though he was crazy smart. He seemed like a such a contradiction, mild mannered Engineer by day ...fast, hair on fire biker on the weekends.
God's Speed Cliff, see you on the other side!

I was truly blessed to work With Cliff. Cliff showed me that MS Excel can do everything and that there is a solution to most problems if you are passionate about solving it and have the grit to endure. He was a jack of all trades and had some great adventure stories..... Especially about motorcycle racing. He really helped inspire me, which I have tried to pass along to others. He led by example. He will be missed but not forgotten. Cheers to a great man Mike Mende Tektronix

Our homage to Cliff at his retirement from Tektronix in August of 1998.

Cliff was a very well liked and exceptional engineer in my Measurement Accessories Product Line at Tektronix. When he retired in August 1998, we organized a big farewell at Tek. As MAPL's admin, I put out the word for attendees to be just like Cliff and come to his party dressed like him dark pants, white shirt, black tie. We had a big turnout and lots of look-alikes; however, Cliff must have had advance notice because, shortly after the start, he changed into a goofy outfit and turned...
