Clifford Harrington of Long Beach, CA passed away peacefully on January 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen Harrington in 2006. Clifford was born in Maine to Ernest and Edna Harrington along with 2 brothers and three sisters. After graduating from High School, Cliff joined the US Navy where he joyfully served for 25 years. At that time he traveled through many countries while moving up the ranks to Chief Petty Officer. After marrying Helen, he retired from the US Navy and began working for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Long Beach where he worked for 25 years. In those years he enjoyed the children and grandchildren he gained through his marriage to Helen. He loved the Sunday dinners and 4th of July BBQ's. Clifford always loved to travel and spent his years with Helen traveling around the United States from coast to coast visiting relatives. In their later years, their favorite place was Laughlin Nevada where they would try to visit at least once a month. Clifford is survived by the family he shared through Helen: Leonard, John, Teri, Paula and Mary. Also by his sister Eleanor Leighton of Maine and Addie Mae Keene of Tenn along with many nieces and nephews.

"I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.'"

Although we lived on opposite ends of the country I have several childhood memories of us playing games when you would visit. Like that game of old maid when Frank went to the bathroom and you stuck him with the old maid. Boy was he upset... I'll miss you and will love you always.
