Clifford Haskins

Reverend Haskins was our minister when we moved to Burlington Iowa in 1976. He was very kind and had a most positive influence on my family. He helped my faith to grow from elementary school through high school and I´m so thankful for his time with First Presbyterian Church.. my mom and I called him just a few years ago and had a great chance to share memories with him. We´re sending thoughts and prayers to his family

Cliff Hawkins encouraged a group of us to be a small group. One book he suggested encouraged us to pray out loud. Oh my such a challenge it was but it opened many of us to not be afraid that we might say the wrong words. You see we were caught in the idea that prayer required fancy words and all. Cliff was a mentor for me as I studied to become an ordained pastor. He introduced me to the works of Frederick Buechner. That was a gift.
