STALEY, Clifford B. - Of Burton, age 87 years young passed away peacefully at his home and called to Heaven on Sunday, June 6, 2010. A joyful celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Heather Creek Church, 5490 Davison Road, Burton, Pastor Gary Currell officiated. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may make contributions to Avalon Hospice or charity of one's choice. Visitation was from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Staley will be at the church from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service. Mr. Staley was born in Flint, Michigan on January 23, 1923 and was a resident of Flint, Burton and Houghton Lake, Michigan all of his life. He graduated from Flint Central High School. In 1944 he married Letha Currier, who preceded him in death in 2000, after 56 years of marriage. In 2006 he married June Passmore, who passed away after 18 months of marriage. Clifford worked at Buick Motor Division, retiring in 1982, after 42 years of service. He had also worked part-time as an orderly, ambulance driver, baker and sang in a gospel quartet. He was a member of Heather Creek Church and Houghton Lake Church of God. Clifford passionately loved fishing, football, euchre and bowling. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Denise and husband John Burt of Columbia, Tennessee, Brenda Stockman of Lapeer; son, Reverend Ben and Denise Staley of Wichita, Kansas; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jim and Ruth Staley of Clio, Maxine Orr and Carisa Inman, all of Flint, Dave and Ellen Currier of Saginaw; special Barkers, Stewart and Dillingham families; girlfriend, Sherry Chapman. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter/son, Diane and Jim Dillingham; his parents, Earl and Martha Staley; sisters, Florabell Orr, Aletha Fisher and Gladys Bucherie.
