Not sure what to say?

"Mr. Mac" was one of my favorite teachers in High School at Slaton. Of course I only had Biology my Senior year under him and my course in Tech was a snap....but...he convince me to either be a Lawyer or a Doctor. I tried the dr. but couldn't spell Chemistry. there were more Lawyers than people, so I became a teacher like him. We had great times riding back at forth to Tech and every morning he had a new story. What a legacy....and he told me several years later you guys created your...

What an amazing man!

I was a student of Dr. McPherson in fall semester of 1961. He told us not to be looking up at the ceiling to find an answer to his tests because the answers were not there. He had a grape variety named by him "Sagmore," because the vine sagged more than others.

We are all richer for having Doc in our lives and poorer for his passing. He's been a constant joy and inspiration to me for the last 36 years. He and Clara have always treated me like one of their own. It's my honor to know them both. I miss Doc terribly.

How sad I was to learn of Doc's passing. While he will forever be remembered for bringing wine making to the South Plains, I remember most what a loyal friend he was to so many, including my parents James and Lorena. Jackie Robinson once said "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives". What an impact Doc had! My heartfelt sympathies to Clara and the family.

Respected and admired by all, he was the real deal.
David Cummins, Professor of Law Emeritus

I remember Doc from freshman chemistry in 1965. His resounding "thar she blows" while firing his carbide cannon in a class demonstration will always stay with me. I am happy that I got to get reacquainted and visit him over the last Christmas. holidays

Dr. McPherson was my chemistry lab professor at Tech in 1973. He was a wonderful man, always with a smile, and full of stories--especially about wine making. He will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mac was a great inspiration to me as I had him in Geometry classes in high school and later. I used it often. He and I and a coule of other guys car-pooled back and forth to Texas Tech. He always got into the car with a quip about "how much did you guys waste on beer last night?" It came as no surprise that he started wine in the Lubbock area. And, his story later, about how they "invented" blush wine is still great> God Bless the McPhersons. Bob Martin
