Mother Clorene T. Culver, 101, of Melbourne, passed away on September 3, 2025. The viewing will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00PM at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00AM at the church.

Mother Clorene Trawick Culver was born October 12, 1923 in Newville, Alabama, the sixth of eleven children born to the late Deacon Artis and Sister Lillie Mitchell Trawick. Mother Culver accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age.  Mother Culver graduated from Henry County Training School in 1943, and she united in holy matrimony with Clarence Culver in 1944. The Culvers were blessed with six children, and the family moved while Mr. Culver served in the Army and on several military bases in federal civil service. Upon his transfer to Patrick Air Force Base in 1959, the family moved to Melbourne, Florida and later settled in Palm Bay. Mother Culver worked in food services for the Brevard County School District, serving as a baker at Stone High School and Palm Bay Elementary, where she retired in 1985.


As the Church Mother for the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Mother Culver prepared the baptismal for new members, the preparations for the Lord’s Supper with the Deaconess and the Mother’s Board, and provided spiritual counseling to new members, especially young women. Her roles included serving with the Mission Circles, the Health and Nursing ministry, and as a Sunday school teacher (Class #10). Mother Culver was known for her holiday dressing and baking. She loved to garden and tend to the plants and flowers on her front porch. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Lookwell Chapter No. 219, Newville, Alabama.


She leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Clarence Deleon (Ella) Culver, Phillip Lovard Culver, and James Carl Culver; one brother, Lafayette Trawick; one sister, Evangelist Dr. Barbara Pouchie; nine grandchildren, Clarence (Tasha) Greene, Terrence (Anetra) Culver, Julia Marie Culver, Edward Culver, Kimberly Culver, Yvette (Bobby) DuBose, Ambi Cochran, Raven Cochran, and Alexis (Morten) Nielsen; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, church family members, and friends.  


On September 3, Mother Culver answered the call from Heaven to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We thank God for a life so well-lived.

Mother Culver was a beautiful and kind person. She always had a smile on her face and always had encouraging words. She lived for the Lord and had tremendous faith. We should all want to be like her. She served the Lord faithfully until the end. Condolences to the family and may God continue to guide you all and to continue to keep the faith. Well done good and faithful servant. You can now take your rest. We will miss you!!
