DOUGLAS ... Clyde Thatcher, Sr., 69, of 3 Cook Street, died Saturday, October 25, in the Milford/Whitinsville Regional Hospital, following an illness.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy (Drew) Thatcher; three sons, Norman Thatcher, of Sutton; Alton "Butch" Thatcher, of Auburn, and Brian Thatcher, of Worcester; six daughters, Donna Hopkins, of Mapleville, RI; Laurie Croft, of North Brookfield; Suzanne Thatcher, and Norma Davis, of Putnam, Ct.; Bobbi-Sue Clark, of Worcester, and Melissa Pellicone, of York, South Carolina; a brother, Edward Thatcher, and a sister, Bernice Hopkins, of Harrissville, RI.; 15 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. A son, Clyde "the little fisherman" Thatcher, Jr., died in 1977, and he was predeceased by four brothers, George, Elwyn, Malcolm and Chester Thatcher, and a sister, Ethel Young.

Mr. Thatcher was born, February 5, 1934, in Northbridge, a son of the late Ralph and Martha (Brierlly) Thatcher. He grew up in Burrillville, RI, where he attended school. He had lived in Douglas for 15 years.

He was a set-up operator at Turex Company, in Nasonville, RI, prior to retiring, and he had previously worked at The Whitin Machine Works, Draper Corporation, and Crompton & Knowles.

Mr Thatcher served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed cooking and sports.

Following cremation, burial will be private.
