Not sure what to say?

You were always a favorite of mine in the Youth Choir at First United Methodist in Madison. You didn´t quite have the low note and you just shook your head and said, "Next year." I´ll always remember that and smile

I served with Dr. B in Iraq as his Physicians Assistant. I am so glad I got the chance to meet and serve with him. I still use some of the medical techniques he taught me while we worked in the Battalions Medical Clinic. I could write here for days and never cover all the things he taught me about medicine. What a wonderful person-always happy, I never seen him without a smile and getting ready for the next mission. You will be forever missed. MAJ Fred Hobson (R)

I have many great memories with COL Burnett. He treated me with such kindness and grace as a pediatric resident. Your love for family, God, country, and medicine was always apparent. No one was more proud of his boys than COL Burnett. I hope that Nancy and his boys will feel loved and supported through this difficult time.

I met Col Burnett during a teaching mission in Gabon. His heart was full of love and kindness. He enjoyed serving others and was always willing to do more. My time with him on that mission was a joy. Despite his wealth of knowledge and experience, he was willing to learn from those around him. He taught me to respect those of lower rank and value their input. I was shocked to learn of his passing. He was such a joy to be around, always making everyone laugh with thoughtful jokes. We truly...

My oldest daughter and family were stationed in Hawaii when my 4 yr old grandson, Keith, became ill and was hospitalized. I hopped on a plane scared to death of what might be happening. Upon arrival I found a caring, compassionate angel named Dr. Burnett! Thankfully Keith got well and was able to attend his sister´s basketball practice! In walked Dr. Burnett! He was her coach!! Mark was always giving!! Keith will attend WVU with his eyes on a medical career and entering the Army. All things...

I for one will never forget COL Mark Burnett. He was a passenger in my truck on a day I'm sure my entire battalion would love to forget. I saw this man pour his entire soul into working on saving a life that we all knew was gone. I laughed with him, I cried with him, I even got to be a test dummy for him when he used a pediatric technique on a very very sick 26yo SSG at the time to induce an asthma attack in an attempt to help figure out what I had going on. He let a few of the young...

To Mark´s Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Mark was always a wonderful person, I ran cross country with him in high school and then rowed with him at the U.W. He was upbeat and hard working and positive. Always a joy to be with. Rest in Peace Mark. I am sending all of you lots of love

COL Burnett was rare. I'm sure I am one of innumerable physician learners who remember every interaction I had with him, because they were all positive and impactful. We're better because of him. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
