Colin Herbert Eidt

Colin Herbert Eidt died on May 5, 2025, in Springfield, IL, at his home. He is preceded in death by Augusta Gabler Walsh and Daniel Vincent Walsh, his maternal grandparents; Cerene Collins Eidt and Herbert Ferdinand Eidt, his paternal grandparents; Hugh Farrell Eidt, his father; and Jonathan Farrell Eidt, his brother. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Louise Walsh Eidt; first cousin, Jan Muffley; younger sister, Maria Eidt and older sister, Justine Eidt Tobin with her husband, David Tobin, and their children, Hannah Tobin and her husband, Bobby Sharpless, and Jonathan Tobin and Max Tobin. Colin was born in Atlanta and lived in Tulsa, the Chicago area, and Orange County, CA, as a child. He graduated from Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, where he played football, to his father's delight. He attended Oklahoma State University before transferring to the University of Illinois to study accounting. After college, Colin became a dedicated entrepreneur, founding and running Tierra Vista, a commercial lawncare and groundskeeping business based in Springfield. Through Tierra Vista, Colin hired and mentored many employees over the years, offering steady work and meaningful skills to people in his community - many of whom went on to build lasting careers because of his guidance. Colin was a good friend with a big heart, a big head, and a big mouth. He was always there to lend a listening ear and an extra hand or a helpful piece of advice to those whom he cared about. Colin stayed closely connected to a wide circle of people - his high school friends in Tulsa, his colleagues in Springfield, and his many first cousins spread across the country from California to Michigan. He always showed up for family events; he was exceptionally sociable and affable. And he was a huge Pittsburg Steelers fan. While the immediate family has not prepared service arrangements in Colin's memory, we encourage Colin's friends and cousins to celebrate his life and generosity in your own communities, in ways that reflect your bond to him. Colin would also appreciate a Catholic Mass said in his name. His remains will be interred in the family burial plot overlooking the Santiago Canyon with his father and brother at the Holy Sepulcher cemetery in Orange County, CA.
