Colin Fanshawe

I'm so sad to see that Colin Fanshaw has passed away. He was a brilliant, dedicated teacher at Wakefield College and he worked hard to develop and nurture the young musicians there. It was only after I left music conservatoire that I understood just what a capable and fantastic teacher he was and an excellent musician. I learned more with him and in his department than before or after. He and the people in his department were pivotal in my personal development and I'm so sure many others...

So sad to hear of this good mans departing. I was chosen to be in his Wakefield Wind Orchestra as a teenager. He was my clarinet teacher during High School 1975-79. He was my tutor in college... Wakefield Tertiary and helped me through my exams. He was always so very kind and supportive. I hope he knew how very thankful I was to have known him and have him be a small but very important part of my life. I hope his music lives on.
