PARKIN, Colin, of N. Chesterfield, Va., left his earthly life on April 2, 2013, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Born in the United Kingdom, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1962 with his friend Michael and began a successful career in retail. He married Betty in 1966 and was the proud Dad to Heather and Keith, and a loving Grandpa to Chris, Scott, Leah, Colin and Regan. Colin was a true Christian gentleman, kind, generous, creative to the core, and he did enjoy those challenging jigsaw puzzles. A celebration of his life will be held at a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 20, at the Salisbury Presbyterian Church, 13621 W. Salisbury Rd., Midlothian, Va. 23113. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Hospice of Virginia., 1700 Bayberry Court, Richmond, Va. 23226.

This obituary was originally published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Not sure what to say?

Colin and Betty,
I lovingly remember you both from Sicklerville, NJ. We all moved in together at about the same time on Waltham Way.

I'll always remember Colin as a creative and funny gentleman who did not hesitate to share his opinion and dashing smile. I can easily picture him now repainting his heavenly digs in the glorious greens and mauves that he loved. Betty and family, my love to you all.

Dear Betty, All of us in The NeverEnding Circle were so sorry to learn of Colin's passing. He will so missed as a friend, father and husband. Peace to all.

Because Colin was so special to us, we want you to know how very glad we are that we got to know him. He seemed so warm and wise and somehow with just a word or smile, he made us feel better. We will always miss and remember him.
