Not sure what to say?

I learned of the passing of Colleen while taking a paper making class recently. My deepest sympathy to Mark and his family. Such a loss.

I have just learned of the passing of Colleen. My deepest sympathy to Mark and his family.

Thinking about Colleen today and came upon this. I studied with Colleen for many years. Her generous spirit and gifted talents touched so many. She is part of my life almost every day in ways large and small. My sincerest sympathies to her family. Time slips away and we lose touch so easily. I regret that I wasn't more proactive in staying in touch and allowed this wonderful person to slip away from me. Her time was short; her legacy is grand.

Dear Mark, Lydia and Marie,

I came across this very sad news of Colleen's death today whilst hunting for your email, after several years since our last contact. Both Chip and I are so sorry to hear this. We have such good memories of Colleen from both here in Oz and staying with you in Portland.

Our very best wishes,

Wendy Morris and Chip Kaufman,

Melbourne, Australia

Colleen, we have many wonderful memories of your time in Bendigo, Australia. You were great company, warm, friendly and a loving wife and mother. We really enjoyed our trips to the wine regions of Victoria with your husband Mark and your two beautiful daughters Lydia and Marie. I wish we had made that trip to USA last year as we had planned. Love from Kevin, Julie, Tim, Nic and Sarah Jackson xxx

Still can't believe that you have gone, we knew each other for 17 years, meeting in Bendigo, Australia. We used to chat over the fence and Tim had his special ladder to pop over to play with Marie. Many cups of tea's, chats, and fun times. Then when you went back to America, we still kept in contact, you made every Christmas special for us with your package. Good friends are hard to find, Colleen was a very special person and always be a part of my life and never forgotten.

Dear Mark, Lydia and Marie
We have heard the news of Colleen's death. We feel sad. We remember the good time we spent at your place when we were leaving in Portland. Arthur still has his name calligraphed by Colleen on his door.

Dear Marie, Lydia and Mark
We will never forget Colleen's kindness and generosity when you gladly welcomed us during our stay in Portland. Far from France, our home country, you were like a second family, inviting us for many typically American occasions.

The Portland calligraphic community has suffered a huge loss with the death of Colleen. She was a talented artist and teacher and will be forever missed. So many people were enriched by her love of the lettering arts and book arts. Her calligraphic legacy lives forever in the lives of her students and friends. Much love to the family.
