MacAlpine Funeral Home, Inc. - Mac Chapel - Bad Axe Obituary

Colleen May Pionk, 68, of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, at Medilodge of Grand Blanc under hospice care. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Colleen was born on May 28, 1955, in Bad Axe, to Sylvester and Florence (Wolschlager) Byarski. She attended Bad Axe Public Schools and was a lifelong resident of Bad Axe. On February 6, 1971, she married Donald Pionk at Most Holy Trinity Church in Smith Corners, MI. Colleen was a loving and nurturing mother to her three children, Robin, Tammy, and Tim. She was also a devoted caregiver to her family and friends, and spent many years providing daycare in her home. She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, crafts, playing bingo, and cards. She was also a passionate sports fan as she enjoyed watching all MI-based teams as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In 2014, Colleen was diagnosed with cancer. She fought bravely and was declared cancer-free in 2018. While she continued to face other health challenges, she was a true inspiration to her family and friends, and will be deeply missed.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Robin (Bertram) Keene, Tammy (Brian Weaver) Bressette, and Tim Pionk; her grandchildren, Kelsea (Jordan) Filipowski, Morgan Bressette, Katelyn Bressette, Luke Siler, and Courtney Keene; her siblings, Robert Byarski, Sylvester (Julie) Byarski, Paul (Brenda) Byarski, Sally Byarski, Barbara Byarski, Leonard Byarski, Lisa Hydorn; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ronald Pionk, Marjorie (Kenneth) Bugenski, Shirley (Richard) Cregeur, Charles (Diane) Pionk, Janice (Edward) Carson, Diana (Gordon) Kociba, David Pionk, Gloria Froede,  Laurie Mince and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester Byarski and Florence Byarski; her parents-in-law, Ignatz and Edith Pionk; her brothers-in-law, Richard Pionk and Donald Hydorn Sr.; and her sister-in-law, Linda Pionk.
