Mutual Inspiration Society
For a few years, when they were growing up in eastern Pennsylvania, they shared a room. After college, she went to work in the financial district of New York City, and when it was his turn, he came, too. For a time, they lived three blocks apart in Hoboken. They talked to each other every day, and made a point of getting together at least once a week. Her friends were his friends.

Colleen and Benjamin Supinski were brother and sister, but they were each other's inspiration, too. "She would soften me up a little bit, and I would try to harden her up a little," he said.

When terrorists struck the World Trade Center, both were in danger. But only one of them made it to safety. Colleen, 27, worked as an assets trader for Sandler O'Neill & Partners, with offices on the 104th floor of 2 World Trade Center. From his offices at Barclays Capital, a few blocks away, where he is a manager, Mr. Supinski saw the first attack, and called to tell her about it. Little more than an hour later, he saw her building collapse.

Mr. Supinski said his sister loved her job, she loved running -- she ran track in college -- but mostly she loved her family. Their youngest brother, Nathan, 20, an international-business major, was talking about joining his siblings in New York. "I believe that wherever she is, God's taking care of her," Benjamin Supinski said. "She's up there taking care of me, and of the rest of the family."
