Broomhead Funeral Home - Riverton Obituary

Colleen May Pritchett Swapp was born February 20, 1935 in Roosevelt, Utah to Evelyn and John Pritchett. She passed from this world on January 20, 2019.

She had five sisters: Joann, Marie, Gloria, Virginia and Debra; and four brothers: Glen, John, Jim and Bob. She grew up and attended schools in Provo, Utah; a proud member of the graduating class of 1953 at Provo High School.

She married Spencer Swapp. They were later divorced. They were parents to Craig, Cynthia, Lynann, and Veronica.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, daughters Cindy and Roni, and grandson Travis.

Nothing was more important to Colleen than her family. She was a single parent to her four children as well as for many years stepping in to raise her four grandchildren Kelly, Chris, Andrew and Travis, as well as great grandchildren Heather and Tabitha and great-great grandchild Bo. She was proud of her great grandson Ashton and to see her youngest great-great grandchild Hunter made her so happy.

She made every effort to stay in contact with extended family as well – all of her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Family was always her first priority and her joy.

Colleen enjoyed working. She sold real estate and worked in social work for the Utah State Prison Women’s Facility. Her favorite job was as Director of the Riverton and Draper City Senior Citizens Centers. She loved working with the people, made lifelong friends and had many adventures.

Colleen loved to travel and see the world. Her favorite trips were to Hawaii and Jamaica, and of course Wendover for the occasional gambling.

Colleen was so strong, so generous, so giving, so caring. There will never be another like her. She will be so missed but never forgotten.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home located at 12600 South 2200 West, Riverton Utah.
