In Loving Memory of Colten Brown
 May 20, 2003 – May 20, 2025

With broken hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Colten Brown, who left this world far too soon on May 20, 2025 — the day he turned 22.

Born on May 20, 2003, to Kimberly Wesner and Travis Brown, Colten brought warmth, joy, and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. From his earliest days, his light shone brightly even through life’s challenges.

Colten was a proud graduate of Union County High School. Known for his relentless work ethic, he held several jobs and continually worked to build a better future for himself. Most recently, he served as a special education assistant, a role that perfectly reflected his heart for others. He had a natural gift for compassion, a calming presence, and a genuine desire to uplift those who needed it most.

But perhaps what most people remember first about Colten was his extraordinary sense of humor. He had a way of lighting up a room with just a smirk or a well-timed joke. His laughter — loud, joyful, and utterly contagious — could turn an ordinary moment into a memory.

Whether he was tossing out witty one-liners, pulling lighthearted pranks, or just being unapologetically goofy, Colten made it his mission to bring smiles to those around him. He was the kind of person who could find something funny in almost anything. Somehow, it never felt forced but instead felt like a gift.

Yet beneath the jokes and laughter was a young man with incredible depth. He knew when to put the humor aside and offer a shoulder to lean on. Colten had a beautiful way of meeting people where they were — celebrating with them in their joy and sitting beside them in their pain. His empathy was effortless, his presence comforting, and his hugs, always hugs, never just handshakes, were full of genuine love.

He is survived by his loving parents, Kimberly and Travis; his brother, Evan; paternal grandparents, Ron and Shirley Brown; maternal grandmother, Darlene Wesner; two aunts, Kelly and Keri Wesner; an uncle, Chad Brown; seven cousins, Kodi, Emilie, Cody, Cooper, Case, Ava, and Hanna; his lifelong friends, and a community of extended friends, family, and coworkers who were all touched by his grace and goodness. He was preceded by his maternal grandfather, Keith Wesner.

While our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort in imagining the joy and laughter he now brings to heaven. The same joy he brought here on Earth. Though his time with us was far too brief, the impact he made is timeless.

He was a gift, and we were blessed to know him.

In honor of Colten Brown — a kind, funny, compassionate young man who gave the world more than it could ever give back — may we all live a little more like he did: with open arms, a generous heart, and a laugh that reaches the heavens.

Rest in peace, Colten. You will always be loved and never forgotten.
