Not sure what to say?

I met Tony at Grand Canyon National Park in 1981 while he was there for the summer with his wife Betsy and two children, Soodie and Anthony, writing about the National Parks. We hit it off immediately as neighbors in Park Service housing. I lost touch with the family over the years, but often recalled memories of my Grand Canyon days, where there was Tony, jovial and fun, and full of stories about his adventures. My belated condolences to the entire family.

I was so sorry to hear of Tony's passing. We miss him for his insights, passion and questions. I hope that one day, we will see his work on the big screen.
Condolences to his family and family of friends.

The most derivative write I've ever known.

I just learned of Tony's passing and feel a sense of emptiness. Tony and I collaborated together on five photographic travel books, with me providing the photos and Tony writing the text. The incredible amount of research he put into each of the books, plus his ability to put into words and make the reader feel as if he is part of the journey, is what made me so appreciate his generosity and giving nature. I will miss him!

Tony was a dear friend. Saddened to hear of his passing.

Tony on the trail to Wa'chahuri, Chihuahua, Mexico - Feb. 2006

I just learned of Tony's passing. I had the great fortune of doing two wonderful adventure trips with him in the Copper Canyon Country of Northern Mexico. He was a terrific person and the most excellent of company to travel with. He was suffering from Parkinson's on these trips, but as an embracer of living a full life he soldiered through. Most impressive! I'm very fortunate that our paths crossed during our journey through life. Rest in peace Tony the Elder.

Tony with Mel Croner at Albrecht home bar

Was just reviewing some photos of a visit to St. Joseph in the summer of 2013. We had lunch with Tony at Bourdeaux's, apparently one of his favorites, then a tour of the Albrect home. Tony, at that time, was living in the carriage house.

I was a very good friend of Tony;s older brother Bill. Bill passed over 10-years ago.

While I did not Tony as well as Bill, he was an interesting and engaged host. He will be missed.

Conger was a great friend and my earliest writing mentor. I am deeply grateful to him and his family for their unfaltering inspiration.

Tony's creativity will be missed by so many. Such a positive, upbeat, charming, gracious man. His smile showed in his eyes and lit up his surroundings.
Let your memories of Tony envelop you in comfort.
