Bassett Funeral Service - Bassett Obituary

Connie Loretta Compton, 85, peacefully made her final transition on Monday, June 24, 2024.

While Loretta retired from DuPont with over 20 years of service, her most meaningful accomplishment in life was loving her family and others selflessly and unconditionally. She never met a stranger and was always thinking of ways to leave you with a smile. She was an extraordinary cook. She never showed up to a function without her famous potato salad, deviled eggs, and her super-secret, sought-after recipe of fudge. In her spare time, she loved serving others and reading her numerous recipe books. Her family has a few extra pounds because of her.

A lover of all things Christmas, she took pride in her impressive decorations, both inside and out. She embraced the importance of happiness, so her Christmas tree stayed up year-round to enjoy. You could call her on any given day and there was a good chance she was watching a Christmas movie. Little did she realize, she was the best gift her family could have ever asked for!

Loretta was a devout Christian. She often expressed that it was her unwavering faith in the Lord that carried her through tough times. She believed there was good in everyone and found joy in being a true disciple of Christ and impacting the lives of everyone around her!

Loretta is survived and sorely missed by her husband, children, and grandchildren. William Compton, loving and devoted husband of 67 years. Son, Jody Compton, (wife, Linda, children Christina and Melinda); daughter, Teresa Compton, (children, Heather and Candace); daughter, Sharon Bowman, (husband, Steve, children, Phillip, Adam, Stevie, and Ashley); daughter, Amanda Bennett, (husband, Quincy, children, Dylan, Mady, and Leah); Sisters, Connie Smith, Cora Jane Harris, Jeanette Smith and many, many great-grandchildren, family, and friends too numerous to list, but not forgotten. She is reunited with her parents, Louella and Claude Fackler, brothers, Lenwood and Orie Fackler.

Loretta lived a life of compassion, one that had a true impact on others. She left this Earth wishing her family would find safety in the complexities of our dynamic world! While our hearts mourn the loss of her presence, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and that she leaves behind a wonderful legacy. Instead of flowers, Loretta would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. A burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
