Connie Yvonne Tucker died on March 16, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma due to complications from a colonoscopy. She was 72 years old.
Connie was born on June 23, 1944 at the Naval Air Station in San Diego, to her parents Edwin and Delores Staton. She graduated from Muskogee Central High School. Connie married David Tucker June 1, 1965 in Muskogee, OK. The Tuckers moved to Tulsa where David taught for Tulsa Public Schools and Connie raised her family. Upon the children entering school, Connie completed her education and graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She also completed her Master’s degree in Education with a specialty in Reading. Connie was a patient and supportive teacher with a passion for literacy. Connie taught 28 years in the Tulsa Public School system and retired in Kellyville, OK.
Connie dedicated her remaining time to caring for her grandchildren and was an active member of her church choir. She tutored with the Caring Grands through the Sapulpa Public Library. She sang in the choir for the Kellyville United Methodist Church.
Connie is survived by her husband David; daughters, Melissa Mok and Alaina Tucker of Dallas, TX; sons, Blake Tucker and Paul Riley Tucker; daughters-in-law Amy Tucker and Kassidy Tucker; and seven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Delores Staton and her daughter Trudie.
A service will take place on March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Kellyville First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Braggs, Oklahoma. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Connie's life.
